Made with InDesign and Photoshop in 2012
In a team of three people, in the course "Gestaltungslehre 2" by Prof. Lothar Schöneck, I developed an almanac for planting herbs. It consisted of felt and it had the task to make planting of and caring for herbs easier. For this purpose, it contained seeds, care tips, planting containers and suspension brackets right from the start. To document our work, I produced this book, which should grasp the topic time and herbs, as well as the almanac itself.
It should be said that it is just normal to write a documentation about projects at the Design Faculty at the Fachhochschule Münster. The design and the way you do this, what you want to say and what you want to include in it as well as deciding in which format it should be is your own choice.
To include the herbary topic in my documentation, I designed a book cover which is made out of felt and dried herbarys which are implemented in epoxy resin to conserve the herbs and its scent in it. Even today the documentation still smells of the conserved herbs.
To capture the style of arbitrarily growing herbs I set the documentation in ragged alignment.
Another part of the documentation i set in justification, as, within the semester, we also had the task to generate square samplings in the different workshops of the design faculty. We could choose the materials we wanted to use to create those samplings for ourselves. Additionally, as we didn't get input about what we should do, all the results of our sampling-experiments derived from our own creativity.
In the end, there was a book which expecially captivates attention through its extraordinary cover. However, not only its cover arouses interest, the ragged alignment as well and the chapter pages with its different quotes about planting create a holistic artwork.
